Despite many studies showing its health benefits, believe it or not, I don’t meditate. So when the Mobile Meditator ($24.95,http://www.mobilemeditator.com/), an inflatable meditation cushion, landed on my desk, I asked a friend (who actually does meditate) to help me out with the review. Here’s the lowdown, courtesy of Steve Graham:
I don’t normally use a pillow, so I’m not the best guy to ask. Sitting on it was comfy though. It changed my posture, but not in a bad way.
I can see how it would be much easier to travel with this inflatable pillow if you had to have a pillow in your daily routine. It’s reasonably well-made for an inflatable, but still a little cheapy. (The case in particular.) I wasn’t sure what to do with it initially, ‘cause there was no accompanying material or description. (Makes a great hat!)
But … if you need a pillow for on-the-road meditation and don’t wanna travel with your buckwheat-filled lavender-scented mandala-print soul cushion, this might just be the ticket. It’ll fit in your luggage, or you can brace your neck on the plane. And I suppose it would make a good emergency flotation device (as long as you stay in the full lotus until rescue).

In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, the folks at Medela, makers of products that support nursing mothers, are letting me give away some of their great gear. Drop me a line and enter a random drawing to win:

Another new fave, especially when I hit the yoga mat, is the line of wipe your feet, wipe your hands
When you think of a bee, you likely think of a sting. But one little bee is out to change this bad rap. Buzzy, a hand-held device invented by pediatric pain management specialist and mom of three Emily Baxter, M.D., is designed to take the pain out of immunizations, blood draws, IV starts and other needle sticks. And the best part is that you don’t need a doctor’s help to use it.
